By If you would like to connect your MacBook or one of Apple’s non-iMac desktop computers to a monitor, maybe it is time for an upgrade, or to purchase a dedicated display altogether. Ironically, Apple is currently offering its Studio Display for purchase. The VESA mount and tilt-adjustable variants are now $300 less expensive at $1,300, a record low for both. Note that the discount only applies to the versions with regular glass—not the nano-textured kind.
For variants that come with a tilt-adjustable stand and VESA mount, the price of Apple’s Studio Display has dropped to its lowest point ever.
Since the Studio Display monitor’s launch in March 2022, not much has changed, so regardless of the configuration you choose, you will always receive the newest model. It features an A13 chip, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with Center Stage, a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system, and a 27-inch 5K Retina screen.
In our evaluation published in 2022, we awarded the Apple Studio Monitor a score of 80. We were pleased with the screen’s brightness and color accuracy, as well as the build and audio quality. The monitor’s single-zone illumination limitation, the mediocre camera, and the 60Hz refresh rate—which is getting progressively worse—were drawbacks. Another unfortunate feature of such a costly monitor is its absence of HDR.
Still, this is a good 5K LCD for people who are deeply involved in the Apple ecosystem. The 27-inch 2,880p screen has a P3 wide gamut and can display 1 billion colors. There is a triple-mic arrangement for calls and speech recordings, and the six-speaker array can handle spatial audio. There are three USB-C slots and a Thunderbolt 3 port for connectivity. Additionally, your MacBook can receive a 96W charge via the Studio Monitor.
The Studio Display can be purchased from a few merchants in addition to Apple. Although some models were difficult to get, merchants currently have several available for instant purchase, even though wait times were somewhat lengthy upon release. Some retailers only have specific configurations available, so be sure to check their websites to see what is in stock and when deliveries are anticipated.
