The new solar wireless keyboard from Logitech costs $100.

I apologize for spoiling Logitech’s new wireless keyboard a few weeks ago, but they would like to show it off. However, now is your chance to own a brand-new wireless keyboard that never requires battery changes! The $100 Signature Slim Solar+ K980 from Logitech is currently on the market.

The Signature Slim Solar+ borrows many design elements from Logitech’s MX series, including a low-profile build, a full-width format (number pad on the right), and a black-on-gray color scheme. However, compared to some of Logitech’s earlier attempts, the strip of solar cells at the top is much more tastefully incorporated into the design.

The advertising page claims that the battery may be recharged by the solar cell using either artificial or natural light, preserving the charge for up to four months and a maximum lifespan of ten years. The FAQ states that the internal battery can be changed if it ceases charging.

Having said that, I found this product to be a little lacking. More than ten years ago, Logitech began selling wireless keyboards with illumination that were solar-rechargeable. I don’t see much of an upgrade over the K750 from back in 2011, unless you’re desperate for a dedicated “AI Launch” key or you really want the multi-device pairing and Logi Options+ support that have become standard.
