Although OLED gaming displays were once quite costly, they have gradually decreased in price while remaining costly. OLED monitors seldom catch up to their LCD counterparts, even with significant price reductions.
One of those days is today. Woot, a subsidiary of Amazon, is selling a 34-inch MSI OLED gaming monitor for $499.99, which is the lowest price we have ever seen for one. That is less than half what a similar model would typically cost.
The catch, what is it? Although Woot is offering a refurbished model, do not let that deter you. This one comes with a 180-day guarantee, which is longer than typical refurbished displays. (But I would understand if you wanted to back out of this agreement due to general concerns about OLED burn-in. Consider purchasing the extended Asurion warranty that is available at checkout if that is the case.
Are you still here? Then pay attention. With a 34-inch ultrawide 3440×1440 curved panel with a refresh rate of 175 Hz and a response time of 0.03 ms, the MSI MAG 341CQP is not the fastest in the world, but it should be more than adequate to keep your gaming PC running faster on newer models and play competitive online games without lag. It enables additional gaming features like integrated crosshair and AMD FreeSync, of course.
You get USB-C, double HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 1.4 for connections. (The 15 watts of charging power that the USB-C offers is probably insufficient to fully charge a gaming laptop, but it will work perfectly for video.) It also has a headphone jack and an additional pair of USB-A connectors. Furthermore, because of its 100×100 VESA mount, it is compatible with the majority of monitor arms.
Woot’s sale is still going on for three more days, but if you are ready to buy, act fast because I predict it will sell out much sooner.
