For this reason, a lot of people use Microsoft Intune, a cloud-based program that lets managers control several devices and set up rules for things like upgrades.
However, despite the update being prevented, devices are upgrading to Windows 11 due to an Intune problem. BleepingComputer noticed a post from Microsoft in the Microsoft 365 admin interface that confirmed this. The issue appears to have been present since April 12, but only impacts Intune-managed organizational devices.
System administrators who oversee hundreds or even thousands of machines for businesses and organizations can use Microsoft Intune to find out which software updates are available for installation. This involves updating to the latest versions of Windows.
The number of systems impacted by this mistake is unknown, as is the reason why Intune settings are being disregarded. Microsoft is working on a solution, though, and for the time being, it advises using Intune to fully halt Windows feature upgrades.
If you use Intune to manage devices and those devices are upgraded to Windows 11 in defiance of a policy that should have prevented the update, you will either have to stick with Windows 11 or manually restore each system to Windows 10.
The manual method of rolling back from Windows 11 to Windows 10 can be challenging and time-consuming, and Microsoft does not provide an automatic approach.
