Please excuse my incomprehensible lingo as a technology journalist, but: Hoo, dog. After an honestly awful year, we are finally beginning to see some better OLED monitor deals. For instance, the 49-inch Odyssey G950, a gigantimax OLED from Samsung, is currently only $849.99 at Amazon. That is more than half of what it normally costs, which is $1,800.
With a resolution of 5120×1440 (two 1440p displays side by side) and an amazing refresh rate of 240Hz, the G950 is 49 inches of OLED deliciousness. You have my admiration and jealousy if your desktop computer can produce more than seven million pixels, 240 times per second. With unmodified Minecraft, this monitor may completely overwhelm my desktop.
That’s not all, though. This monitor doesn’t require a PC at all to display video, in addition to all that curved PC gaming fun. Because Samsung’s smart TV system was integrated inside it, it could connect to all of your streaming apps from any location using Wi-Fi. Despite having USB-C connectors, it lacks USB power delivery and video, making it an unsuitable partner for a gaming laptop.
In the run-up to Black Friday, there were already some fairly good OLED offers, but this is the biggest discount I’ve seen on any monitor. You might also want this heavy-duty VESA monitor arm if you want to set this monster up without taking too much desk space.
