The reference design for Nvidia’s Founders Edition graphics cards is meant to be stripped of any extras and, most importantly, offered at retail costs with no markups. The Founders Edition of the RTX 5090 and 5080 vanished from Nvidia’s online store over the weekend, which was concerning. Some questioned whether they were permanently gone. As it happens, no.
An Nvidia representative said that they are simply temporarily out of stock because of overwhelming demand when asked why the priciest consumer graphics cards on the market aren’t available at their regular cost. WCCFtech uploaded the response on Sunday after they provided the statement. Production of the GeForce RTX 50 series Founders Editions is still ongoing. Since they are limited edition items, they occasionally go out of stock on our website; please return them when they do.
Currently, a variety of problems are putting pressure on graphics cards, particularly Nvidia’s devices. Issues with output supply since Nvidia also provides GPUs to AI-hungry industrial clients, high demand from gamers (and scalpers, though that seems to be slowing down), and general economic unrest. Even while those coveted Founders Edition cards will continue to be difficult to obtain at the MSRP, it appears that they won’t be going away anytime soon.
