A wide variety of 4K monitors are currently available on the market, ranging from ridiculously expensive models to low-cost versions that are not worth the money. If you’re looking for some of the greatest business monitors available right now, we have wonderful guides. However, what’s really amazing about the EW2790U is that, for just $360, you get a fantastic 4K panel that is full of capabilities rather than just a plain panel.
Pricing & Availability
There are presently three different models in the EW Series: the EW3290U, which costs $549.99, the EW2790U, which costs $359.99, and the EW2790Q, which costs $329.99. In comparison to the EW2790U, the Q variant features a greater refresh rate of 100Hz but a lower resolution (2560×1440). The displays are the same except for that. With a larger screen and a better speaker system, the EW3290U is substantially the same as the EW2790U.
BenQ displays are sometimes offered at a discount and may be purchased at major retailers and on the BenQ website. Make sure to seek for discounts if you’re looking to replace your panel and want a BenQ.
Design & build quality
I’ve tested a few BenQ monitors with non-traditional white bezel frames, and I’ve come to appreciate them in the correct setting. It reminds me that I can like this place and the work I’m doing, and that it’s not simply work. It feels lively and current.
Even though I haven’t seen visible speakers in a monitor before, I’ve seen them so often that I hardly notice them as strange anymore.
Another construction quality that I did not anticipate at all in a low-cost monitor is the port offering on the rear. The majority of low-cost monitors have few connectors; some, to save money, have only one HDMI port. Nevertheless, this monitor features three HDMI, two USB-C ports (one for accessories, one for your computer), three USB-A ports, a headphone line, and an IEC socket for power (not a cheap barrel connector like many low-cost monitors have).
Performance
Okay, I’ll be honest: I have a problem. I only had this monitor on the included stand for about 15 seconds, which was enough time to test it out and see how it worked, before I threw it on one of my monitor arms. I adore the way it looks and works. However, I don’t mind the stand that BenQ gives with the monitor, so I won’t mention anything bad about it. It’s attractive, simple, and has some good movement.
Going forward, as of the time this review was written, this display has been operating my backup configuration for 105 days. I’ve used this monitor for 105 days to test the specs and performance of every computer. I’ve also had it playing in the background of every meeting, let my son play games and watch TV shows while I work, had friends use it to co-work, and even had it play a few podcasts because I can, and it’s that simple.
This is an excellent display of productivity. For good reason, the 27-inch size is the industry standard; it’s a sweet spot. This, together with the 4K resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio, makes it compatible with nearly all computers. The ability to switch color profiles, audio modes, display modes, and volume with a single button press, as well as switch to an entirely separate profile for a different device, is what distinguishes this unit from others.
At the stroke of a button, you can be ready to play games after work or watch content during your lunch break. Your productivity configuration could include your standard displays, vocal audio mode, and USB-C connector. Additionally, you can use the three HDMI ports to connect a work dock, an Apple TV, and a gaming system while still using USB-C to connect your laptop or tablet. Remember that this is a budget monitor, too.
Conclusion
The BenQ EW2790U is an amazing low-cost 4K display with amazing port selections, amazing functionality, and a distinctive style. Before making any further purchases, you should look at this display if you’re searching for a full-featured budget monitor or even just a full-featured monitor, and cost isn’t a major concern for you.
