I enjoy watching monitors. Really into monitors, I mean. I have a side monitor for productivity, a 4K HDR display for single-player epics, an ultrawide monitor for racing and sim games, and a small 360Hz monitor for esports. Yes, I do have an issue. However, I’m incredibly tempted to buy a single powerful monitor to rule them all on October Prime Day because this deal can fulfill my once-unattainable ambition.
The stunning 49-inch Odyssey QD-OLED G93SC from Samsung is currently available for $899.99. That’s still a lot of money, to be sure, but it’s also a huge $700 off its $1,600 retail price, making it an absolute steal for a monitor this loaded.
To begin with, it is enormous. With its pixel-rich 5120×1440 resolution, the 49-inch ultrawide screen is equivalent to two regular 1440p screens in one frame. That’s fantastic for both work and play! On this beast, Forza Horizon and Elite Dangerous will expand to nearly virtual reality dimensions.
They’ll also look damned beautiful while doing it. I have already examined OLED screens, and their rich blacks and vibrant colors create media and gaming experiences that are truly remarkable. Really, OLED is a far better upgrade than moving to a 4K panel and will astound you. With its DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, this Samsung Odyssey really turns it up, guaranteeing deep space-like blacks.
But that’s not all—cue soundbite! The Samsung Odyssey G9’s 240Hz refresh rate will perform admirably in the competitive shooting games I can’t seem to put down, even though it can’t quite match the 360Hz speeds of my little 24-inch esports display. (You guys, Battlefield 6 is on its way.) You have everything you need to outperform the competition when you combine that with the crisp graphics and ultra-wide aspect ratio.
This fully equipped S-tier gaming monitor is well worth the $1,600 asking price, in my opinion. With a 44 percent reduction, at $899? The thought of replacing my assortment of specialty displays with a single all-purpose beauty (with OLED!) still makes my checkbook flinch. If you want the best gaming monitor for dang near half its normal price, you should do the same. I’m going to be watching my pennies and crunching budgets until October Prime Day expires at midnight on the 8th.
