I’ll guess that more than half of PC gamers will name some variant of AMD’s Ryzen X3D series when asked what CPU they plan to use in their next desktop configuration. It has been demonstrated that increased V-cache may assist any GPU, which is why I purchased a Ryzen 7 7800X3D for the desktop computer on which I am typing these words. That same chip is currently available on Amazon for just $319.99, which is a great $130 discount.
The Zen 5-based 9800X3D (which can be put on the same AM5 motherboards) has surpassed the 8-core, 16-thread 7800X3D, which was the sweet spot for gaming performance and price a few years ago. However, the newer processor is already available for $460 from a variety of stores and is just 5% faster in more expensive games.
This makes the earlier 7800X3D offer an obvious choice. Your next PC setup will be far more capable if you use that extra money for a larger SSD or a GPU. Make sure to put a cooler in your PCPartPicker list because AMD assumes you’ll want something a little beefier; thus, the X3D CPUs don’t come with one.
While supplies last, get the Ryzen 7 7800X3D on Amazon for $319.99. Walmart is also selling it on sale, so you can get it if the Amazon bargain expires. However, there is no indication as to how long this specific price will stay. (In reality, you could acquire the latter for as little as $305, depending on your location in respect to the closest distribution facility.)
