This is the best bargain on a reliable, low-cost laptop that you’ve been searching for. The official Acer site is selling a reconditioned 15-inch variant with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD for just $234.59, so let your fingers do the walking over to Amazon. The retail price is reduced by more than 50%.
Featuring a relatively antiquated AMD 7520U quad-core processor, the Acer Aspire 3 is undoubtedly a low-cost design. Given that it is on par with the least costly Intel Core i3 CPUs, it won’t be a benchmark monster. In our assessment of the Acer Aspire 3, we were not impressed even by the integrated graphics, which are typically a feature of AMD designs. However, the build quality is good, and the 1TB SSD and 16GB of DDR5 RAM are substantial even at the original price—unprecedented at this reduced price. Additionally, you have good USB-A, USB-C, and HDMI connectivity choices.
Even though it doesn’t have a touchscreen and doesn’t have a fingerprint reader or a face scanner on the 720p webcam, a 15.6-inch 1080p screen is more than adequate for the majority of work. Additionally, after 6 to 8 hours of typical use, the battery life is a little disappointing.
For a laptop with a regular price, all of that can seem like a downer. However, all of those are reasonable trade-offs for value at much under $300, in my opinion. (After all, finding a Windows 11 laptop with sufficient RAM and storage for less than $250 is nearly impossible.) Although the refurbished status is something of a drawback, the one-year Allstate guarantee and the fact that it comes straight from Acer help to mitigate it. Compared to the usual 90 days you receive with a refurb, that is a lot better.
