By These days, it’s difficult to find a cheap laptop that I can suggest because I think that Windows 11 runs best with at least 16GB of RAM. Fahgeddaboudit if you want a large screen on top of that, unless you’re shopping during Amazon’s Prime Day promotion. An Asus Vivobook 16 that meets the requirements is currently available for at $449.99, which is more than $100 discount.
Although the Vivobook 16 is undoubtedly on the less expensive end of the spectrum, it has a powerful 13th-generation Intel Core i5 processor. Additionally, 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM—again, my preferred minimum for a Windows laptop—are not to be overlooked. But you want that 16-inch, 1920×1200 screen if you’re comparing this laptop specifically to some of the competitors. In addition to having fewer pixels than others, it won’t impress gamers at 60 Hz. However, for those who have a tendency to squint at the tiny screens on ultraportable devices, the additional room is fantastic.
In addition to a respectable number of connectors, that additional space also includes a backlit keyboard with a complete number pad, which is convenient for those of you who spend a lot of time in spreadsheets. There are three USB-A connectors instead of just one USB-C and HDMI port, which makes it very simple to quickly attach flash drives—hardly an annoyance. It’s not exactly a featherweight, either, weighing in at over four pounds, and because of its enormous screen and somewhat modest battery, you’ll want to have your charger close at hand.
In terms of raw power, this laptop won’t blow anyone away, and if you want more gaming alternatives, I’d go with a more modern AMD model. However, you won’t find a better value on Prime Day for managing office supplies, movies, and basic online browsing.
