This year’s Prime Day sales on docking stations have been lower than typical, most likely due to worries over international tariffs. However, I’ve discovered a Thunderbolt 4 dock from a reliable manufacturer that is offering a Prime Day price you might find interesting.
Amazon is selling the Ugreen Revodok Max 208 8-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 dock for $159.99, with a 36% Prime Day discount. Thunderbolt docking ports typically cost more than $200 to ship, and $250 isn’t out of the ordinary either.
Although you may not be familiar with the term, dock enthusiasts highly regard Ugreen. After reviewing this particular dock, our sister site TechAdvisor gave it a rating of four stars. In addition to reviewing smaller Ugreen Revodok docks that are included in our list of suggested docking stations, I also inspected the rather bigger Ugreen Revodok Max 213 myself. (If we call a product “overpriced,” that’s excellent for you since a Prime Day sale makes it even better!)
The Max 208 forgoes some of the other features (like an SD card reader) that come with some more feature-rich, pricey docks in favor of three USB-A ports and a gigabit Ethernet connection. The Max 208 has a small catch: because it is a Thunderbolt hub, it can receive a Thunderbolt 4 input connection from your laptop and has three Thunderbolt 4 outputs.
In the actual world, that just means you’ll need to bring your own cords to the display, whatever they may be. You should be good if your monitor has a USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 input and the appropriate cable. You will need to purchase an additional cable to connect them if it only has an HDMI or DisplayPort. Once more, this is not a major issue. The high-speed USB-C to HDMI cable from Uni, which I use personally, costs $13 on Prime Day, so it’s a little bit more, but not too much.
Although the current administration has suspended its tariffs with China, Ugreen may still be subject to them as a Chinese producer. Amazon may have built up a stockpile prior to the imposition of all this tariff madness because the Max 208 has also been available for a while. Regardless, I was able to add the dock to my cart without ever seeing any mention of taxes.
