For some time now, Logitech’s MX Master line of mouse has been the best option for anyone who doesn’t require gaming skills. Although it hasn’t had a significant change in a few years, if these leaked pictures from a regulator are to be believed, the MX Master 4 is almost here. The new mouse has a new thumb button in addition to a little aesthetic update.

We can see most of the device’s pertinent angles in three pictures, although the bottom and charging area are conspicuously absent. A few aesthetic changes have been made: the scroll adjustment button is now easier to locate, the status LED is now on top rather than the side, the primary buttons and the main area are separated by a single line, etc. With the gesture button reportedly moved from the bottom of the mouse (and operated with the side of your right thumb) much closer to the more conventional buttons, the thumb buttons receive the most attention. A third of those exist as well, and it might be ideal for my Fortnite loadout.
My educated assumption is that Logitech will market that third thumb button, which is somewhat apart, as a special “AI Prompt Builder” launch button. Although certain gaming mice can go well beyond that, Logitech may also include a new and improved sensor in its flagship mouse, the MX Master 3S, which has an 8000 DPI sensor. After a tariff-related price increase, the MX Master 3S is now $120, and I anticipate a replacement model to be in the same range.
When will you be able to purchase one? I have no idea. However, given that these appear to be rather comprehensive promotional photographs, I wouldn’t be shocked if the new mouse was released before the fall back-to-school rush.
