By About three weeks have passed since Nvidia announced the RTX 5060 Ti, which also included the less expensive RTX 5060. We didn’t have an official launch date for the 5060, just “May.” We now know it will arrive on May 19, the Monday after next week. The price in the United States is thankfully unchanged from the $299 announcement MSRP.
The RTX 5060 Ti is a good 1080p gaming card, at least in its 16GB upgrade version. The 8GB version of the card has received much less well, which may help explain why Nvidia didn’t send out review units before the launch. The 5060, without Ti and with the same 8GB memory, may not be very impressive, especially given its price.
For instance, Intel’s Arc B580 card, which retails for $250, occasionally outperforms the 8GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti that is now available on store shelves for $380. Indeed, it appears like Nvidia is not aiming for the low-cost market with these releases; instead, they may be depending on OEM gaming desktops or customers whose brand loyalty trumps their need for performance.
For example, the 8GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti, which is currently on shop shelves for $380, sometimes performs better than Intel’s $250 Arc B580 card. With these releases, it seems that Nvidia is not targeting the low-cost market; rather, they may be relying on OEM gaming PCs or consumers whose brand loyalty outweighs their performance requirements.
