By The Alienware AW3425DW is very similar to the company’s previous designs, though it gets a bit of a refresh in its stand and styling. The newer OLED panel is also faster—a full 240Hz—while retaining the semi-standard 3440×1440 ultrawide resolution. The new design also gets a USB-C port, something conspicuously absent from both previous models… but don’t get too excited because it’s only 15 watts and there’s nothing in the specs to indicate this port can handle video input. So this monitor isn’t ideal for a gaming laptop, but it’s still serviceable.
Although its stand and appearance have been slightly updated, the Alienware AW3425DW is largely reminiscent of the company’s earlier designs. The semi-standard 3440×1440 ultrawide resolution is still present in the latest OLED panel, which is also faster—a full 240Hz. Additionally, the new design has a USB-C connection, which was noticeably missing from the two earlier variants. However, it’s just 15 watts, and there is no indication in the specs that this port can handle video input, so don’t get too enthusiastic. Although it isn’t the best for a gaming laptop, this monitor is still functional.
But, given that the OLED panel is covered by a three-year warranty against burn-in and other flaws, and that the starting price is only $799.99, I believe many gamers will be ready to overlook that fact. Since Dell regularly offers discounts on even its most expensive displays, if I were looking for an OLED monitor sale, I would personally wait on this one. However, given how frequently the US tariff situation changes, it would be worthwhile to take the risk now.
