The phrase “budget” is very personal, relative, and occasionally misused. Anything over $500 is not “budget” for you if you only have $600 to spend on a laptop. which, if you’re searching for something powerful enough to run Windows 11 smoothly, may be a genuine issue. For about $599 at Amazon, this HP laptop with a Ryzen processor and lots of RAM meets the requirements.
With its 16-inch, 1920 x 1200 screen, the Omnibook 5 16 is larger than most laptops available on the market, despite being relatively light at little under four pounds, or 1.8 kilograms. However, the specs are where the value lies. It has 512GB of storage and 16GB of DDR5 RAM, which is currently the minimum I would advise for a Windows laptop. The Ryzen AI 7 3500 processor, with eight cores and integrated Radeon 860M graphics, may be the most appealing. It’s more than sufficient to play a little Fortnite during downtime, but it won’t compete with a gaming laptop.
A full-sized, backlit keyboard, a large speaker above the keyboard, numerous ports (double USB-C, double USB-A, and full-sized HDMI), and a face-scanning camera for Windows Hello login are other features. Compared with the competition, HP’s battery life promise of “up to 14 hours and 45 minutes” is rather meek (I wouldn’t count on more than 7 to 8 hours if you’re browsing the web). Additionally, it doesn’t have a touchscreen, which could be a benefit or a drawback for you.
This is being sold by Amazon for $599, which is over half of the listed retail price. As an alternative, HP is selling a virtually identical laptop for $599.99 that has an Intel Core 5 120U processor rather than an AMD. Since AMD is a more recent processor architecture with marginally better scores and significantly better integrated graphics, I personally would choose it, but hey, Intel aficionados exist!
