Given that phones and tablets can already perform so much on the go, a tiny PC can be a fantastic, cost-effective substitute for a laptop if portability is not a concern. Today, a refurbished EM680 tiny PC is available for just $279 from Minisforum, a longtime favorite in the market. It has a Ryzen processor, 512GB SSD, and 32GB of RAM.
Granted, the Minisforum EM-series AMD Ryzen 7 6800U isn’t the newest processor available. However, AMD’s integrated graphics are surprisingly good for gaming, and its 8 cores and 16 threads are more than enough to perform basic work, surfing, and video responsibilities. You can see the same configuration operating on this list of new laptops from 2022, which produces some good 1080p frames, and that’s with less RAM and perhaps some battery limits.
At about 80mm (3.14 inches) square, the EM680 is an incredibly small PC. Compared to many USB docks, that is tiny! The 32GB of RAM has already reached its maximum capacity, but if you’d like more storage, you can add a 2TB M.2 SSD or just insert a microSD card. Additionally, it has a 3.5mm audio connection, three USB-A 3.2 ports, two USB-C ports, and an HDMI port. Despite its small size, this is a lot of PC for less than three hundred dollars.
Since this model is refurbished and not available in fresh form, Minisforum appears to be clearing out its inventory. However, compared to competitors that only give a 90-day warranty, Minisforum offers a full year’s manufacturer warranty on refurb sales. It might be gone soon at this low price.
