By The latest generation of laptops using ARM processors hasn’t been selling as well as Microsoft and others had hoped. I believe consumers were anticipating better prices with those new AI-ready CPUs, even if they were lightweight, had a very long battery life, and had (largely) fixed those compatibility issues. This Lenovo convertible OLED laptop with Snapdragon X internals is available for just $429.99.
Thanks to its OLED touchscreen and strong specifications, the IdeaPad 5X—one of the few new Snapdragon Copilot+ laptops that truly began off as a good value—was previously highlighted on our site. However, Newegg is also offering a reconditioned model on eBay for more than $400 less than it was when it was first released late last year. (And this SSD has 1TB, whereas that was for a 512GB SSD.) The Snapdragon X Plus 8-core processor should be able to handle almost anything, with the sole exception of 3D gaming, and 16GB of RAM is excellent for operating Windows 11 seamlessly.
This laptop’s OLED touchscreen, which is extremely difficult to obtain on any low-cost model, is something I truly appreciate. Other noteworthy features from our assessment include a good keyboard, a surprising number of connectors, and Windows Hello’s fingerprint and face recognition. With a battery life of 14.5 hours for video playing, it is a little less than typical for a Snapdragon laptop, but still far superior to many other contemporary models. You should be able to get through any workday with that, even if you’re using a lot of browser tabs.
This used IdeaPad 5X comes with a 1-year Allstate warranty, which is less than what we’ve been seeing lately, but still far superior to the 90-day warranty that the identical model sold for $60 less on Newegg. It’s a great value, but if you’re not satisfied, be sure to look at our list of the greatest low-cost laptops.
